Meet Lucy

Lucy is originally from South-East London and studied Music at The University of York. She then studied for a Postgraduate degree at the Royal Northern College of Music. She also has a teaching qualification from Goldsmiths, University of London and worked at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School in Derbyshire.

Lucy is now a busy freelance player around the North-West and further afield. She now mostly performs for weddings and shows but has tutored the National Youth Orchestra of Iraq and worked as Deputy 2nd Violin in Guys and Dolls at the Piccadilly Theatre in London's West End.

Lucy keeps busy with 4 young children and loves to swim. She is also a keen traveller and has a big interest in Latin-American Music.

Meet Ben

Ben graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2018 and now maintains a busy freelance career as a violist, conductor, and teacher. He has performed with leading orchestras including the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, CBSO, Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, NEW Sinfonia, and Skipton Camerata.

A dedicated chamber musician, he has recorded for BBC Radio 3 with the Elmore String Quartet and performs regularly with ensembles across the region. A founding member of the Treske Quartet, he is now delighted to have established Cheshire String Quartet with Lucy and Greg.

His conducting career began in 2019 with Congleton Youth Orchestra and has since led to roles as Musical Director of Paddock Orchestra and Deputy Conductor with several ensembles in the North. He also looks forward to guest conducting Lancashire Chamber Orchestra in March 2026.

Ben teaches violin, viola, and piano privately and has previously worked with Junior RNCM and regional music services.

Meet Greg

Born in Scotland, Greg has lived a varied musical life so far. Early studies at the RAM Junior Department led to being headhunted by the Purcell School (London, UK), and then an entrance scholarship to the RNCM (Manchester, UK).

Professional cello work includes spells with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, London Gala Orchestra, Brigantes, Skipton Camerata, Brunel Ensemble and various other session orchestras and chamber groups.

He has contributed to broadcasts on BBC Radio 1, 3, 6 and ClassicFM, as well as being featured solo cello on the BAFTA Award winning film, "For Sama".

Wearing different musical hats, his other work includes:

Musical Director, playing piano, acoustic guitar, singing and arranging for the Howard Keel Golf Classic, hosted by Don Felder (Eagles), extensive touring for Steve Steinman’s Vampires Rock, Anything for Love (with Lorraine Crosby) and Day of the Dead (with Nathan James), and even a brief spell on keyboard for the Revillos.

He has worked in the studio with X Factor/BGT finalists and semifinalists, Stars in their Eyes and Popidol contestants, Joel Harper-Jackson and Ren Harvieu.

As an artist in his own right, Greg writes and sings, performing regularly around the Manchester area, the rest of the UK and abroad.
